Adam & The Ants
The number of people who will be remembered fondly for prancing around in a pirate costume are not surprisingly few: Errol Flynn, Johnny Depp, Adam Ant. Adam & The Ants actually began as a post-Pistols S&M punk band before catching on to the Burundi beats, Ennio Morricone arrangements and Native American (later pirate, then Romantic dandy) imagery. Kings of the Wild Frontier, Prince Charming and Friend Or Foe are the acknowledged classics, then things got bland and boring. Adam Ant enjoyed a brief renaissance in 1995 with Wonderful.
