G oodness knows The Art of Noise didn’t have much to work with here. After all, the theme to the television series Dragnet isn’t exactly Brahms’ Lullaby. So the group infuses the original theme with state-of-the-art production techniques, adds spiky horn charts and a funky rhythm, and VOILA! you have the theme to Dragnet buried under a lot of ketchup and mustard. Those tasked with making a movie from Dragnet didn’t have anything better to start with, begging the question of why anyone wanted to exhume the musty old series anyway. I heard the dog from Turner & Hooch turned down Dan Akroyd’s role first.
