O h for cryin’ out loud this is terrible. Any trace of humanity was removed from the original recipe, and what remained was either a military love march or the most mechanical consolation this side of the HAL9000. (Open the pod bay doors, Hal, so I can chuck this sucker into space.) The B side was a nonalbum track only available on the two cassette versions of Alpha. Two versions, you say? Well, yeah, apparently Alpha was released as a regular cassette (M5G 4008) and as a ‘6x12’ cassette (M9G 4008). Honestly, I have no idea what a 6x12 cassette is. Anyway, “Daylight” is actually the better track: kind of like “Sole Survivor” if ELO had written it. UK and US singles vary and include shaped picture disc releases.
