The Bears were The Raisins reconstituted. With Adrian Belew their most visible member, The Bears not surprisingly shared much in common with AB's own solo music: cute pop with some elements of subversion. Though not as interesting as Belew on his own (a charge that Bowie fans likewise levelled against the contemporaneous Tin Machine), The Bears did release a handful of fine tracks that Belew's fans will find well worth tracking down, mostly on their eponymous debut. After two albums together, The Bears went into hibernation, though members of The Bears appeared on subsequent efforts by The Raisins, The Psychodots and The Graveblankets as well as albums by Belew and Rob Fetters.
