A n infamous EP from an infamous band who loved their infamy infamately. I won’t really try to describe what this sounds like, since sound is only one of the senses the Surfers are after. What they’d really like you to do is smell this music. They want you to marvel at the mystery of their brown sound stains, pierce the wet white mountain of truth and walk out of Cream Corn stinking of the Surfers’ world like an olfactory apostle. If I tell you “Moving to Florida” sounds like a serial killer’s parody of the blues played with hellfire instead of a harmonica, and tell you it’s hilarious too, you can only wonder what I’ve been walking in. The other songs pursue noise, speed and chaos to the far fringes while lapsing in and out of artistry. Originally available in slightly different versions in the UK (different cover, different names for the same tracks), this EP has since been appended to Psychic, Powerless (in the UK) and Rembrandt Pussyhorse (in the US).
