S omething of a swan song for the band, so we’ll call the nostalgic air that surrounds it prescient. “You Are The Girl” has a dreamlike quality to it that reminds me of The The’s “This Is A Day.” (Attention advertisers: I might be more inclined to buy your client’s brand of mayonnaise/denim jeans/health insurance if this song appeared in their commercials.) “Ta Ta Wayo Wayo” is as good as it sounds, which isn’t very, though it does sound more like The Cars’ earlier work (albeit with an idling engine). I haven’t heard the Door To Door album (from which these come), but on these two tracks anyway Elliot Easton seems to take the lead guitarist role at face value (or he was channeling the fingertips of Gary Moore or something).
