G reat song, although I’ve always had a softer spot for The Stranglers’ version. This “White Room” is edited down from the elpee version; as far as I can tell, they cut out the verses that followed the first bridge, used the second bridge instead and kept the ending the same (Clapton’s fade-out solo). Since the lyrics didn’t make a whole lot of sense to folks anyway, no harm done. The B side remains untouched from the elpee, a winning number by Ginger Baker that features tubular bells and references to Atlantis. Ah, those were the days indeed. In 1995, a CD single was issued in Japan to coincide with the use of "White Room" in a Nissan television ad. Apparently, Atlantis isn't all we've lost.
