I could escape this feeling with minha querida, but “China Girl” is keeping me good company at the moment. The single version of “China Girl” cuts a little more than a minute from the original, though I couldn’t tell you where exactly (I recall its end being a little bigger before, since I notice these things). This also had a video; a pretty stupid one if memory serves. Needless to say, it won an award for Best Male Video in 1984. The flip side is the album version of “Shake It.” You know, I have to confess, I didn’t like Let’s Dance when it first came out, but now I wonder why I fussed so. Let’s dance indeed, neath a nodding moon, and we’ll know that the animals spoke too soon when they chirruped the sunlight to sleep with a kiss, cos we’re all in a daze on a night like this. There's more at Songfacts.
