A fter a few technical glitches I’m up and running again, listening to this disc out of my tinny laptop speaker (they’re hammering in the hotel hallway and it helps, it really does). The cool thing is I’ve discovered the lava lamp feature in Windows Media Player (what a fantastic death abyss that is). So I’m listening to mixes of The Hearts Filthy Lesson, hammering in the hallway, watching weird tunneling colors on my laptop and thinking they may have sucked me into this whole technology thing unwittingly. Bowie went dancing into its arms, of course, ready to embrace anything on the other side of today. On Black Tie it was a bad idea, but this Technopalypse hugs him back, was waiting for him really. NIN and Marilyn Manson studied at the Bowie School of Fashion, so The Prof had a standing invite, right? The Alt. Mix of Filthy is, positively, the Bowie Mix a little bowiering by comparison, the Radio Edit still too left of the dial but better. Generally, I’d leave the mixes at home, but the more studious collectors among you will want the extra Lessons.
