W hen this came out, it was like Ashes To Ashes all over again. Or so I thought. I confess to losing interest in Bowie after Let’s Dance, but the video for this song reminded me of the old, unsettling, uncomfortable Bowie I initially fell for. Bought Tonight right after that. Oops. The first three singles from Tonight (Blue Jean, Tonight, this) represent the sum and substance of that album. Everything after it is incidental, even Don’t Look Down. The re-mix of the B side is a little squishier than the original, the re-mix of the A side has some neat string arrangements at the end and cuts off a coupla minutes. Loving the Alien remains my favorite track from Tonight, because I see the ghost of Station in its bitter beauty. It’s also one of the more nicely packaged singles I own.
