A ctually an edited version of the original that shaves four minutes of smoldering solos from the middle. The single naturally lacks the intensity of the original and is best forgotten. No such modifications to “The Crystal Ship,” and long may she sail intact. At three minutes, it’s still a moving journey. There’s more on “Light My Fire” at Songfacts. More on “The Crystal Ship” there too, but you’ll only end up going in circles.
