F or Xanadu did ELO this stately pleasure disc decree. It’s awfully catchy, kind of The Beach Boys meet disco, or a day at the beach on rollerskates. “Drum Dreams” is music from the film that may not have appeared on the soundtrack (I don’t own the score, so I don’t know it), basically a drum-driven instrumental with the word “Xanadu” chanted over it, filler in the fine tradition of The Who (the ending of a song I can’t remember) and, later, The Tubes (“Drums”). The UK single featured “Midnight Blue” on the flip side, which occasioned a pressing on blue vinyl (or was it vice versa?).
