F ew seemed to notice that “Don’t Bring Me Down” was essentially an update of The Beatles’ “I’m Down,” focusing instead on that indecipherable (and irresistible) chorus. For more on that point, I’ll point you to Songfacts. The B side is “Dreaming of 4000” from On The Third Day. Good song (“Take care of your woman...”), but did this cross-pollinating actually work with ELO fans? Given that this single sold more copies in the US than their third album, I’d say no.
