A pair of good gimmicks for the Xanadu score: “I’m Alive” and “Drum Dreams.” They’re both thick with electronic effects, ELO apparently taking their role as musical scorers seriously. “I’m Alive” is heavy on the vocal masking, and the synthesizers sound a little dated by today’s standards, but you can’t argue with a song that sold over half a million copies. “Drum Dreams” is an instrumental that sounds like you’d think it would, a military march with some spacey synths to stir things up.
