Unearthed in the '90s, the recordings of Empire could be seen as a followup to the music of Flash (in fact, the band was originally slated to be called Flash Mk. II). However, female vocalist Sydney Foxx pushed the band's sound into more commercial terrain, at times suggesting progressive disco (antithetical as the two styles are to one another). Of all the musical mountains worth climbing adjacent to the Yes landscape, this one is probably most deserving of the title Tor Pid.
