J ust Clapton being Clapton, which is apparently all it took for the man to score another top 10 hit. His voice had grown gruffer, his lifestyle rougher, and yet Clapton remained an icon, the ghost of a bygone era who refused to sleep quietly in the attic. “I Can’t Stand It” really doesn’t deserve the honor; it’s hard to hear what separates this from a “Time To Hide” (Wings) or other middle-pack track. The B side is “Black Rose” from the same album, Another Ticket, filler by any other name. Both tracks feature the same run times as the elpee versions.
