C lapton’s cover of Bob Marley’s “I Shot The Sheriff” went to #1 with a bullet. Never cared for it myself, but what do I know. The single runs at three and a half minutes, which is a minute shorter than the track time on Time Pieces so this may be a single edit. The original B side, “Give Me Strength,” is a fine number from 461 Ocean Boulevard that suggests some of the spiritual country music that Eric and George Harrison made together. “I Shot The Sheriff” has since appeared on different “back-to-back hit” singles.
