G od bless Tim Neely. I was thumbing through my copy of his 45 rpm Record Guide (which makes a great Christmas gift, by the way) when I saw that the single for “Cold As Ice” featured a different mix than the elpee that now included strings. Lickety split I bought the single and Lo and Behold it’s got strings! (Ah, the things we do for love.) I know, this probably does nothing for you, but to me it’s like reclaiming a bit of history. No one remembers which version was played on the radio, and by the time the remaster is released history is rewritten (though of course history is no more than our current perspective of the past). And did I mention that “Cold As Ice” is my favorite Foreigner song of all time? The B side is “I Need You,” which as far as I can tell is identical to the elpee version.
