O ne of The Dead’s most enduring hits, “Truckin’” held the distinction of being the band’s highest-charting U.S. single until “Touch of Grey.” The flip side, “Ripple,” comes from the same album, American Beauty. Great album, of course; if you don’t own it, buy it. Years later, Warner Bros. re-released “Truckin’” as part of their Back To Back Hits series, alongside a live version of “Sugar Magnolia” that served as the single from Europe’72. Sugar Magnolia first appeared on American Beauty. See a pattern developing here?
