A single split between its idols: Bowie on the one side (where “No Promises” invokes the golden crooning of “Wild Is The Wind”) and Roxy on the other (déjà vu of “Angel Eyes” on “Into The Wild”). Of course, when Iva Davies stood at the altar, he stood tall enough to obscure his idols, and “No Promises” simply soars (regardless of its source). The B side is less interesting, wisely excised from the elpee (it didn’t measure up) but included on the more accommodating compact disc. Although the A side runs a half-minute shorter than the original, it appears they just ended it a little earlier.
