M @th#rf*ck&r! The first three tracks on here rocked. Then nothing but the sound of two dollars being swallowed by insensitive moving parts of metal and plastic. So in lieu of the usual contructive criticism (“Coverdale Page totally rocks”), you’ve got the scan of the Canadian cassette cover to contemplate and little else. (Well, the discographical data that drives the engine.) Onward we must, then, onto the other online pundits for perspective. Pam from Sleaze Roxx was disappointed with it and only gave it one thumb up. (Apparently, you can put both thumbs up if you really like something or you’re the Fonz. Roger Ebert, clearly, is not the Fonz.) On All Music Guide, you learn that “the power ballads tend to be slightly tedious.” Mind you, it’s only a tendency, and even then only toward a small amount of tediousness. Robert Christgau gave it a bomb. Benjamin Ray wrote a good, short review that I liked until I read his reference to an “11-note arpeggio” and realized that he’d actually counted the notes in the arpeggio. John Alroy of Wilson & Alroy’s Record Reviews does a good, short job of it on his site, as usual. Theirs is one of a handful of sites worth bookmarking. (Mark Prindle’s would be the other. You’ll have your hands full with those two.)
