Jon and Vangelis released their debut album in 1979, but the collaboration between Jon Anderson and the Greek electronic composer actually dates back to the mid '70s. Vangelis was reportedly considered to replace Rick Wakeman in Yes; while that distinction eventually fell to Patrick Moraz, Vangelis and Anderson did join forces on the composer's Heaven and Hell album for the song "So Long Ago, So Clear." Other cameos followed, and when Anderson left Yes for good, the pair embarked on a partnership that resulted in Short Stories. Although the fusion of their airy styles has never found much of an audience in the US, they have had considerable success in Europe, including a pair of Top 10 singles ("I Hear You Now," "I'll Find My Way Home") and albums (Short Stories, The Friends of Mr. Cairo). 1983's Private Collection marked the end of their joint venture, as Anderson returned to Yes. In 1991, the duo resumed their partnership for a new release, Page of Life. Further collaborations are not out of the question.
