A h, what a way to surrender, listening to the music of Jon Anderson. This is the second single from Animation, which (in Canada) also included the first single, “Surrender.” As much as I like them, I’ll concede they’re an acquired taste. I liked “Don’t Forget (Nostalgia)” and “Heart of the Matter” too, but I won’t tell you they’re great rock songs. You need to buy into the idea of Jon Anderson as an innocent savant first. Only then do the guileless melodies overtake you and the straightforward lyrics go straight to your heart. There’s something spiritual and celebratory in Jon’s music, even when it’s pop music (as this is). Now it’s only a matter of time before I arrive at destination Animation.
