T hese are two of my favorite tracks from Blue, identical to the elpee versions. They show Joni’s state of mind at the time of writing Blue, on the one hand drawn by California’s magic (her new home) and yet, on “A Case of You,” revealing a powerful homesickness for Canada (contained to a single, beautiful wolf howl). The Canadian single finds the songs mixed in mono, which changes the sound of “California” slightly but has little impact on the acoustic “A Case of You.”
