Y ou know, I pick on Kansas sometimes, but then there are songs like “What’s On My Mind” that make me want to kick myself for not wearing a black Kansas t-shirt into work every day. I don’t have any particular insight into the song, though like many of Livgren’s love songs it seems to work on a spiritual and a temporal level. It also reminds me uncannily of Foreigner’s first album. The B side, “Lonely Street,” dates from Song From America, before their big ideas had really gelled. It’s interesting insofar as the band rarely mixed songs from different albums on the same single, but it’s hardly t-shirt worthy.
