Ure probably wondering what Midge is doing here. Electronic and progressive music meets somewhere at the center of Tangerine Dream, with late-night discussions that bleed past the borders into the realm of Kraftwerk, YMO and Ultravox. Midge Ure's solo music is no more progressive than Sting, Howard Jones or (admit it) Peter Gabriel. But he played a key role in the success of Visage and Ultravox, two of the better bands to inhabit the new wave/art rock periphery of the '80s that inherited prog's progressive spirit if not its artistry. Midge Ure remains a popular musical figure outside of the US, releasing works of thought and craft that could be viewed as globally and spiritually conscious adult pop music.
