C o-credited here as the title track to the film On Dangerous Ground, “Silent Running” was shaved down by two minutes and became the first big hit for Mike + The Mechanics. I’d tell you what they shaved, but that would require listening to this song twice, and there’s a limit to what I’m willing to do. I could listen to “Par Avion” all day, however, since it has that Phil Collins synthetic stillness that I’ve grown accustomed to over the years (think “In Too Deep” but not quite as deep).
