Monks of Doom
Campers on holiday with David Immerglück. The Monks released the faux soundtrack, "Breakfast on the Beach of Deception," in between Camper Van Beethoven records. Mostly instrumental, it was chocked full of ideas that would have been too weird or noisy for a band with even vague commercial aspirations like Camper. A second release, The Cosmodemonic Telegraph Company, followed in 1989 and featured mostly songs. When Camper Van Beethoven broke up, The Monks made two more records and then the inevitable cone of silence. Victor Krummenacher, the voice of Doom, continues to record on his own. In 2006, the band reunited for an album of covers, What's Left For Kicks?
