K ronomyth 5.0, The Lad That Time Forgot. I was almost blue at the thought of my favorite puncle trading in his red shoes for cowboy boots, but this is not a case of our Lowe Rider changing horses in midstream. It’s the same abalmyable climate we’ve grown, a clam mated too. So, the terror-forming title aside, these Lowe lands will be familiar to anyone who tuned in for his last two albums. And yet I get the sense, the deeper I travel, the fewer peaks I find. “God’s Gift To Women” is a gift, “Love Like A Glove” suits me just fine, and “Half A Boy Half A Man” isn’t half bad. The rest of it’s readily dispensable in lieu of Lowe’s other achievements. Elvis flat-lines on a horn chart for “L.A.F.S.,” and it doesn’t take second sight to see that planet Cowboy is just an excuse to sell tchotchki to unsuspecting tourists. Some bought into it anyway, and I’ve got the keychain from Paris to prove I’m a sucker for it too, but honestly Pure Pop and Labour are where the party’s at.
