A nd starring Nick Lowe as The Wedding Single. “I Knew The Bride” is one of those spot-on synthetic chestnuts that the old quarrymen of Rockpile could be counted on to produce. The flip side is the instrumental “Long Walk Back,” which passes about as quickly as you’d think it would (i.e., not very). Both tracks are peddled from The Rose of England. Honestly, Lowe lost me a bit with the country-rock thing, becoming yet another original new wave icon from England (Elvis, JJ, Sting) in a hurry to grow old.
