S inatra this ain’t. Instead, this is the unleashed ego of Nina run wild in the world’s biggest candy store. The 12-inch single features a nonalbum German version on “New York New York” that loses some of the little girl playfulness. The two tracks here from Fearless (“New York New York,” “Zarah”) are good settings for Nina’s unique talents. Her ode to the city that never sleeps feels like “Nightclubbing” on cocaine, while the Dietrich cum disco pose on “Zarah” is suitably chilling. In The Netherlands, the German version of NYNY was released as a 12-inch single with a German version of “What It Is” on the flip side.
