Progrography

Patrice Rushen
A young prodigy on the piano who started a solo career on Prestige Records and appeared on a couple of Jean-Luc Ponty albums in the mid 70s. With 1976's Shout It Out, Rushen refashioned herself as a disco diva and had a string of popular club singles into the 80s on Elektra and, later, Arista Records. Like Quincy Jones and Herbie Hancock, Rushen has successfully straddled the jazz and pop worlds, moving freely between the two with winning results.
