I t occurs to sometimes, in my neverending quest to find the next Beatles, that I might be looking for something I never lost. This single, which is the kind of humble daisy that got lost on Off The Ground, blooms in its own little spotlight. The CD single, which I snatched in Rasputin while suffering only an awkward elevator ride, also includes three non-album songs of diminishing polish. “I Can’t Imagine” is a near ringer for XTC (thus our opening musing), while “Keep Coming Back to Love” has the kind of tricky chorus I keep coming back to. Four songs from the better quarter of a fab foursome you might remember, and reason enough to re-evaluate Off The Ground all over again.
