E ven Paul’s downbeat moods took flight in music, from “Fool on the Hill” through “Londontown.” Include “Let ‘Em In” to that list (Death, who likes to add sweets...). It’s a testament to his skill as a songwriter that McCartney’s singles often ran four or five minutes, by which time most singles have grown stale. Not so this one, it’s a charmer. The B side is “Beware My Love” from the Speed of Sound album, sung by Paul and Linda together in spots. It’s one of the heaviest tracks from the album, which is admittedly light on good material.
