Paul Westerberg
Frontman for The Replacements broke up the band and went solo in the '90s. Although still widely respected, on his own Westerberg hasn't earned the critical or commercial respect of his former band. The same could be said for Bob Mould, Frank Black, Ric Ocasek, Paul Weller and every other rebel icon who ever wielded the double-edged sword of independence. Westerberg has also released two albums as Grandpaboy (Mono, Dead Man Shake).
