Best remembered for his travels with Camel, Pete Bardens left after A Live Record to resume a solo career started in 1970. The works that I've heard (Speed of Light, Water Colors) are a mix of new age instrumentals and synth pop songs. In other words, nary a trace of the explosive organ playing that graced the early Camel albums, but it's unrealistic not to expect artists to change. Bardens did make a cameo on Camel's The Single Factor (one of the few highlights from a singularly disappointing record) but never rejoined the band. In the '90s, Bardens and fellow Camel alumnus Andy Ward formed Mirage, performing material from Bardens' solo career as well as old Camel favorites.
