T his single, released in the UK, featured a pair of dark, troubled songs from a dark, troubled album (Peter Gabriel’s Third). Both feature mesmerizing rhythms rendered on the marimba that hound the speaker, who senses well the inexorable pursuit of his own undoing. Although an unlikely choice for a single (even by permissive English standards), this eked its way into the UK Top 40.
