I t’s always hard to hear live performances with an unbiased ear at home when the studio version is so firmly entrenched in memory. At the show, I usually muse how much the live version sounds like the original, at home I focus on the differences. Must have something to do with engaging one sense in scrutiny versus several senses simultaneously diffused in different directions. Anyway, the live version of this is okay, but not likely to displace the original in anyone’s heart. The original B side is from the same double album, Gabriel Plays Live. The song later appeared on a Back-to-Back hits single with “Shock The Monkey.”
