P hil delivered another lump-in-the-throat lesson for the lovelorn via the soundtrack for the Disney movie Tarzan with “You’ll Be In My Heart.” It starts with a simple enough beginning, strings imparting a sense of foreboding that suggests the light-poor belly of the jungle, and soon swells to become a soaring declaration of fidelity to the past. Exactly what Disney wanted, no doubt. Formulaic perhaps -- little has changed since “Find A Way To My Heart” -- but credit Collins for carrying the same hot torch so long without getting his fingers burned. This CD single features just the one song credited here as the “Phil Version,” suggesting a Doppelganger prowls the musical forest beyond (perhaps on the full-length soundtrack).
