I had just started high school when this came out, so you can imagine. It was a rallying cry for teenagers everywhere who wanted to fight the system, then join the system, and some day hopefully manage the system. (Music remains one of the few ways that youth can express themselves.) So universal was the song’s appeal, it turned up on the tabletop jukebox in the local diner. Back in those days, you’d get the A and B side of a single to pick from, and I usually chose “One of My Turns.” God bless my parents for eating through that noise. Boths songs sound identical to the elpee version (to me), though the US single doesn’t list a track time for either.
