T he opening moments of “Romantic Me” suggest a wonderful mix of Brian Eno’s seminal art rock albums (Taking Tiger Mountain, Here Come The Warm Jets), Television and Philip Glass’ own droning keyboards. An intimidating collection of names, to be sure, which begs the question of why Polyrock didn’t build more of a following among alternative rock fans. You won’t find the answer in “Your Dragging Feet” or (on the promotional 12-inch) “No Love Lost,” two more compelling arguments for artistic credibility. All three tracks can be found in an identical state on the band’s eponymous debut, which is the wiser investment (if you haven’t already).
