T here’s a word to describe this sort of hypersexual nonsense, but I’m reminded to watch my language. “Body Language” is for all intents a Freddie Mercury solo single, since the rest of Queen never worked this hard to get laid. The backing music consists primarily of a bass synth playing a standard walk and an electronic rhythm; it makes “Flash’s Theme” sound like a freaking symphony. The B side is another story, an ode to John Lennon that approximates his Phil Spector-influenced sound better than brittle curios like “Real Love” from The Beatles’ anthologies. Despite the high charting, “Body Language” was not a significant rock radio hit, though it probably did get play on the dance radio stations that tuned into Queen after “Another One Bites The Dust.”
