T he New Rolling Stone Record Guide (Second Edition) called this “the only listenable rock song in a dismal career,” which is just plain crazy talk, though you can’t fault them for liking it. Queen excelled at novelty, and the rockabilly jive of “Crazy Little Thing Called Love” was yet another novel costume change in a wardrobe that included operatic excess (“Bohemian Rhapsody”), music hall camp (“Killer Queen”) and singalong cheer (“We Will Rock You”). Following soon on the heels of the Live Killers release, the single pressed that album’s version of “Spread Your Wings” into service as the B side in the US, “We Will Rock You” in the UK. The A side re-appeared nine months later on The Game. You'll also find more on this song at Songfacts.
