I
’m working on a new story this morning, which I suppose fed the desire to hear “Killer Queen” again (though most of us can produce it from memory in a pinch). The opening paragraphs follow (with all apologies to Web Hubbel -- I just like the name)...
Web Hubbel, of the Hubbel Modeling Agency, wondered what the hubbub was all about. Craning his equine head out of the limousine window, he saw the source of the commotion: a young girl being mugged. He was about to pull his head back in when he caught sight of the girl flailing and kicking like an animable tempest. It was a beautiful sight, that conglomeration of gangly knees and elbows hurled helplessly at her attacker, and Hubbel knew he had to have her.
She was a Swiss army knife of seduction, this one, which made the loss of an otherwise well-kept walking cane less painful, for Hubbel anyway. For the man lying on the ground, the loss was equated with much pain. It took little convincing to get the girl into the limousine, less to get her undressed. There, in the wide berth of the back seats, he drank in the image of the pipe cleaner arms and legs protruding from matronly undergarments. The sum effect was like looking a crab removed from its shell. “You’re beautiful,” he told her, and he meant it.
She was more than could have been expected, less than might have been desired, with a malleable temperament that boded well for Web’s designs. “I need you to kill another of my creations,” he finally told her. “Figuratively, of course.”
There’s a little more on the single at Songfacts, though I’d swallow that discussion thread with a grain of salt. The flip side is “Flick of the Wrist,” further sonic adventures in RTB’s hermetic studio.
