Robert Hunter
Grateful Dead lyricist who found he had something to say on his own (unlike Bernie Taupin). He sang and played guitar on his first album, which included The Dead perennial "It Must Have Been The Roses." Although he recorded new albums throughout the '80s, none captured a large commercial audience. He has also recorded a pair of spoken-word albums featuring his poetry, which goes a long way toward explaining the lack of said commercial audience.
