The best thing to happen to the club scene since Prince. Scritti Politti went from agitprop to beautiful pop debutantes in the span of a few years, releasing Songs To Remember and, later, the universally beloved Cupid & Psyche 85. Green Gartside's voice is a surfeit of sweetness, but the complex lyrical structure and jerky rhythms reveal deeper goings on that art pop fans will appreciate.
