I can see Spirit is going to be another of those psychedelic bands that jams my label gun. “Dark Eyed Woman” can be slotted into the Santana/Cream category, “New Dope In Town” into Steve Miller Band (The Early Years), both of them preserved in the psychedelic amber of the late sixties. Both tracks appear to be in a mono mix here (I’m too lazy this morning to turn the balance knob and find out). Clearly not on a pair with the best bits from their debut, yet experimental touches (e.g., what sounds to be a siren in the background of “Dark Eyed Woman”) make it an interesting ambassador.
