T hey slipped into the dull denim Americana of seventiseven, thousands of perfect little Pegs, in time to show the folks at Thanksgiving or snuggle with at Christmas. A wonderful bit of engineering, perfect in detail, each identical to the next, their scent out of the box something between cloves and rubber cement. Human only in an oddly reminiscent way, with a B side suitable for the snuff boxes of jazz kittens who find radio lovers in a small town. Tens of thousands of imaginary Pegs roaming in the minds of teenagers and town councilmen, each of them perfect.
