After the Jam, Paul Weller wasn't stuck for an encore. He reinvented himself as a continental crooner and released bloodless, sophisticated soul music with Mick Talbot as The Style Council. The English and Japanese seem to love the stuff, but American listeners (myself included) weren't buying it. I only have two albums by the band, but I'd trade 'em both for The Jam's version of "David Watts."
