I t took me years to spot the difference between John Lennon’s voice and Paul McCartney’s, but once done it became the difference between blue and red. The same with Roger Hodgson and Rick Davies. I knew there were two different voices, but I was never sure who was who because of the shared songwriting credits. Then Famous came along and made it easy for me. “It’s Raining Again” is credited to “Supertramp featuring vocals by Roger Hodgson,” “Bonnie” to “Supertramp featuring vocals by Rick Davies.” In fact, two factions were being formed: Hodgson went solo and Davies kept the Tramp intact for a little while longer. “It’s Raining Again” is thus the last classic Supertramp song in one sense. The single version is identical to the elpee. Ordinarily they would have edited it, but when have four and a half minutes passed so quickly?
